He has written multiple books including Competitive Authoritarianism: Hybrid Regimes after the Cold War, How Democracies die, and Tyranny of the Minority: Why American Democracy Reached the Breaking Point.

This podast is with Ruth Ben-Ghiat who is a professor of history and Italian studies at NYU with a PhD in Comparative History. She has written numerous books such as Strongmen: Mussolini to the Present. Additionally, she publishes a popular newsletter known as “Lucid” with over 200,000 subscribers that talks about contemporary Authoritarianism.
